I'm Out in the Field!

Sister Brothers and Sister Grant (they are in a driving area) Hi everyone!  How are you?  I'm sorry I forgot to tell you when I was leaving the MTC. I left  on Wednesday  morning after everyone else had left so my heart was pretty numb at that point from saying goodbyes! I cried so much when I had to say goodbye to my district. It was really hard, and sometimes still is.  All the Wellington missionaries (Elder Smedly, Elder Harrigfeld, Elder Bishoff, Elder Tonumipea, and Sister Ontiveros) left  Tuesday  morning at  6:30 . So I had to say goodbye to them that night and it was so hard. Then Sister Olive and Elder Biranipwepwe left for Sydney  Wednesday  morning at like 4 so that was so hard. And then Elder Holt was supposed to leave at 7 but didnt end up leaving until like  7:30  so I got to say goodbye to him and that was so hard!  On Wednesday  morning I left the MTC and headed to Hamilton. I had to drive on a bus for 7 hours from Hamilton to get here.  I am serving in the

Dear Beautiful Sister, What a privilege it is for us to be here with you. Remember to always keep the Temple in your sights even when you can't see it. Love you lots, Sister Howes Hi everyone!  I went proselyting with actually missionaries this week! I went with a sister in the Auckland mission.  Also, I leave on Wednesday and go to Hamilton! I will be picked up by my mission president, I think, and will ride the hour and a half to Hamilton. It’s crazy to think that I only have a few days left here. I don’t want to say goodbye to everyone. I I love my district so much! We took some pics at the temple and I’ll have to send them later because I forgot my camera.  I also forgot everything I wanted to say to you guys. I love you all so much though and I’ve grown so much here! My confidence has gone up so much!  It’s kind of cold, but some days its really warm and I wear t-shirts and shorts to sport. Sorry I only have a few minutes left. I love you all! Love, Sister Grant

This is EVERYONE at the MTC! Everyone is so wonderful! President and Sister Howes are the best! Here is a note sent from Sister Howes to Kathrynn: Dear Wonderful Missionaries How thankful we are to have you here in the NZ MTC as you begin your missionary journey. Each one of you is a miracle and we love you and are proud of who you are becoming. Always remember that you are a Disciple of Christ, that you wear His name on your chest and in your heart and that your ultimate goal is to become more like Him. Please filter all your words and actions through that filter. We love you! Please note that I am sending this to the whole Zone and you now have each other’s email addresses. Sister Howes

This is me in front of the NZ MTC! Hi everyone!  How are you all? I am so happy and having so much fun! My comp is sister Olive (Oh-lee-vay) She is from Auckland (Literally like 10 min form MTC) and is going to Sydney North. My district is the Mormon District. There is Elder Smeldy (I sent a pic with him because we recognize each other). His comp is Elder Harrigfeld (He's from Idaho Falls). There is also Elder Bishoff, Elder Tonumipea (From Samoa). Then there is Elder Holt and Elder Bironipewpew (from Kiribati). We have a lot of fun! There is only one set of sisters in each district because there are so many more elders . Oh! After lunch everyday we go to sports. Sister Ontivaros and I play soccer with like 4 other sets of elders and it is so muddy because it rains all the time, but it is so much fun! The first day I was COVERED in mud (I forgot to take a pic) But it was so much fun!  The winter here is so nice! It hasn't been too cold except for when we went to the

I Made It!!!

Hi! I made it safely! I only have a little time to email and I can’t read yours. My P day is Friday but I won’t email tomorrow but I will email next week! (Thursday for you guys I think). Elder Harringfeld and   I didn’t meet up with anyone else in Denver but when we got to San Fran we meet up with about 15 other missionsries. Only one other sister. Her name is sister O. The plane ride to NZ wasn’t too bad. I slept most of the way. One of the Elders said he went to the bathroom and looked at me and I was completely out haha! I’m happy and having fun! I love it here! It’s cold and wet but It’s nice. It is beautiful though! Also there is an elder that I recognize his name is Elder Smeadley and he recognizes me but we aren’t sure why we recoginze each other. Everyone here is really nice. I feel gross and I need to shower but I’m not sure I’ll be able to  until tomorrow . The plane ride didn’t feel long though because I was able to sleep most of it. I love you all so much and will talk to

On Her Way

Katy flew out to New Zealand on July 4th. Leaving her at the airport in Idaho Falls was the definitely the hardest thing I have ever done. I don't know if it was the fact that both of the twins are now gone or if it was that she was flying so far away. But, I didn't want to let her go. We, Trent, Collin, Kenna, and I, watched her every step until she was completely out of sight - up the escalator and around the corner. A tender mercy arrived in the form of another Elder flying out at the same time to San Francisco and then on to the New Zealand MTC. Both missionaries were greatly relieved to know they would not be beginning this new adventure alone. It brought great relief to me, the mom, also. Her plane in Denver was delayed for an hour and fifteen minutes so they were late arriving in San Francisco. But time was made up and they were able to catch their overnight flight to New Zealand. Thirteen hours later  - July 6th (NZ is 18 hours ahead of us) they arriv
